My First Show:
3-29-93 Albany, NY... The Knick

I remember driving 3 hours in a rain-storm to get there... Walking around the lots beforehand, simply people-watching.

Set 2:
Here Comes Sunshine
Looks Like Rain
Box Of Rain

I Still Have Prints From A Hippie In A Van, Not The Freeze Dried , Hell I Think He Was Growing Them In His Van.

The 82 Duke Show Was Great Also. Was There With A Hot Chick
From School So Just Alot Of Smoke. The Music Was Great

Hey Pauly,

I happened to be at that 4/12/82 Nassau show, too!

My very first show was also at Nassau Coliseum. It was 1/11/79 and I remember a number of things that put me on the bus for good: One was hearing my first ever live version of Jack Straw. That was when I realized what being there live meant, and how it just can't compare to anything you hear on record. The jam they opened up was just insane. Never heard anything like it before and i was all lit up inside. (Like you I was very young....just 14...went w/my best friend and we were chaperoned by my Mom...thanx, Mom!)

I was also fortunate in that it was the only show I ever got to see w/Keith and Donna...this was at the tail end of their tenure, but I'm glad I can say I at least saw that incarnation of the band at least once...and my first show, no less.

Hard to say which of the 70+ shows over the following years I saw was the greatest...they ALL had their moments...but certainly the MSG show in 1983 when they pulled out the first Stephen in 5 years stands out...as well as the 1986 Hampton show when they pulled out the first Box of Rain in 14 years. After they ended set 1 w/that I remember streams of Deadheads running out to the pay phones (remember those?)...lines of them, calling up other heads, just screaming 'BOX OF RAIN!' into the phone and hanging up, then running around like madmen after wards.

ahhhhh, the memories.

Love the"BOX" remembrance story.Good imagery.Must have been a trip to hear it and then see the pumped reaction of your fellow concertgoers scrambling to tell their friends who had no idea what just went down. Thanks for your memories.
